EvergreenHealth Named Orthopedic Center of Excellence, Earns Advanced Spine Surgery Certification
EvergreenHealth is the only hospital in the Pacific Northwest region to achieve the Center of Excellence distinction.
KIRKLAND, Wash. — EvergreenHealth has been recognized as a Center for Excellence for Orthopedic Surgery and received certification for Advanced Spine Surgery by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a hospital accreditation organization through the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). EvergreenHealth is the only hospital in the Pacific Northwest region to earn this distinction.
"This designation assures our community that we provide consistent, high-quality orthopedic and spine care," said Jeff Stepanian, PA, EvergreenHealth’s Orthopedic and Spine Program manager. "The community can be confident that we have the equipment, surgeons and training to be a demonstrated leader in orthopedic and spine surgery."
This award recognizes the outstanding creation and execution of new systems and operational enhancements in orthopedic and spine surgery and honors the surgical teams, nurses and staff who care for patients after their surgery. The certification demonstrates EvergreenHealth's commitment to patient safety, exceptional quality of care and outcomes for the patient population the community-owned hospital serves.
The recognition also affirms EvergreenHealth's excellence in orthopedic surgery through DNV certifications in both Advanced Hip & Knee Replacement Surgery and Advanced Shoulder Surgery.
"Achieving DNV's Center of Excellence for Orthopedic Surgery is a reflection of our team's commitment to providing superior care and service for patients," said Kirk Hanson, executive director of EvergreenHealth Neuroscience, Spine & Orthopedic Institute. "Our program aligns technology, doctors, staff and comprehensive training to deliver excellence in surgery from diagnosis to treatment, education and rehabilitation."
The DNV Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation is obtained by achieving advanced certification in at least three (3) advanced orthopedic programs. The DNV advanced orthopedic requirements are informed by the guidelines and recommendations of organizations such as the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the ERAS® Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and relevant requirements of the CMS Conditions of Participation for Hospitals.
Additionally, EvergreenHealth's overall quality and expertise are recognized by numerous other awards:
- Healthgrades America's 50 Best Hospitals Award, placing EvergreenHealth in the top 1% of hospitals in the nation for clinical quality
