EvergreenHealth Physicians Honored with 2023 Excellence in Medicine Awards
KIRKLAND, Wash. – EvergreenHealth physicians and the entire Evergreen Emergency Services Group were recently honored with the 2023 King County Medical Society (KCMS) Excellence in Medicine Awards. These awards aim to recognize outstanding physicians in the community who demonstrate leadership, high-quality care and dedication to their patients.
Mark Vossler, MD, was honored with the KCMS Physician Advocacy Award, and the Evergreen Emergency Services Group, which practices at all EvergreenHealth emergency departments and urgent cares, was honored with the KCMS Independent Medical Group Award.
The EvergreenHealth physicians were honored at the King County Medical Society Community Foundation's second-annual Awards Gala on Nov. 4 where over 280 physicians, scientists, and community leaders gathered to celebrate outstanding healthcare professionals in King County and raise funds for the KCMS Community Foundation. As part of its mission, the foundation provides scholarships to medical students in Washington.
Kevin Hanson, MD, and retired physicians Warren Appleton, MD, and Chuck Pilcher, MD from Evergreen Emergency Services were present at the gala to accept their awards, as well as Dr. Vossler and Dr. Nelson.
"We are so proud of our team of skilled, talented physicians and health care leaders," said Jeff Tomlin, MD, CEO of EvergreenHealth. "Dr. Vossler and the entire Evergreen Emergency Services department exemplify the passion towards patient care and well-being that all our staff at EvergreenHealth embody in their practice every day. We're pleased that these physicians are receiving this well-deserved recognition."
As a cardiologist at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, Dr. Vossler cares for patients with chronic heart failure and cardiomyopathy and is additionally fellowship-trained in general cardiology and heart failure transplantation. He led the re-organization of EvergreenHealth's approach to treating congestive heart failure and is passionate about helping patients live more enjoyable and productive lives.
"I'm extremely grateful to be recognized with the KCMS Physician Advocacy Award by my colleagues," said Dr. Vossler. "It's an honor to receive this, and I'm thankful for the physicians I work alongside with at EvergreenHealth who provide compassionate care and advocate for the well-being of our patients every day."
As one of the largest county medical societies in the country, KCMS aims to support the 12,500 physicians in King County with the mission of championing the needs of doctors and their patients. KCMS's Community Foundation is a physician-founded 501 (c) 3 nonprofit that improves health care by providing scholarships, training and medical supplies.
