EvergreenHealth Monroe Invites Community Members to Apply for Board of Commissioners Seat

The community-owned hospital is seeking qualified candidates for Commissioner-At-Large Position #3 to apply before July 22

MONROE, Wash. — EvergreenHealth Monroe is seeking a qualified community member to join its Board of Commissioners as Commissioner-At-Large Position #3. Residents who are interested can apply for the position by submitting their statement of qualifications by July 22, 2023.

EvergreenHealth Monroe/Snohomish County Public Hospital District No. 1 (SCPHD #1) is one of two hospitals in the EvergreenHealth System. As a public hospital district, EvergreenHealth Monroe is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, each selected by district voters to serve a six-year term. The Board provides oversight to the hospital, advocates for residents' health and ensures EvergreenHealth Monroe provides the community with high-quality, high-value care. Additionally, the Board gives final approval for all of EvergreenHealth Monroe's major financial decisions.

The perfect candidate for this role is an engaged community member who lives within the boundaries of SCPHD #1 who is committed to improving the health of everyone within the district and is deeply connected within their community to gather information from stakeholders and be an advocate for their needs. In addition to providing oversight for EvergreenHealth Monroe, each commissioner must represent the voice of the district's nearly 112,000 residents. This means advancing the hospital's mission to “advance the health of the community it serves through dedication to high quality, safe, compassionate and cost-effective health care” and further EvergreenHealth Monroe's Core Pillars of Success.

The successful candidate must also give 25-35 hours of service per month, including two board meetings per month, two to four committee meetings per month, mandatory training, continuing education courses and preparation for meetings. All commissioners are offered medical, dental and vision insurance for themselves and eligible dependents and are entitled to compensation as determined by statute under RCW 70.44.050.

The appointment to Commissioner-At-Large Position #3 is for an interim period between the appointment date and December 31, 2023, which represents the remainder of the current term.

Interested candidates are invited to visit EvergreenHealth Monroe's website to learn more about the position and apply.
