Jeff Cashman Commissioner Position #6 At-Large
Cashman is an experienced financial expert, currently serving as a senior investment strategist for SCS, a wealth management and advisory firm. Additionally, Cashman has spent the last 25 years providing independent securities and advisory services consulting. He and his wife Judy successfully created and sold two companies, and Jeff brings more than 40 years of financial expertise to the board along with years of volunteer work. Cashman's skillset is especially welcome during a time that hospitals across Washington state are experiencing unprecedented financial challenges as a result of significant cost increases in labor, supplies and pharmaceuticals in the aftermath of COVID-19.
Aside from his business and financial planning acumen, Cashman is a dedicated philanthropist and civic leader with over four decades of experience advocating for an array of important community causes. Since 2013, Cashman has volunteered for the EvergreenHealth Foundation, serving as treasurer for the foundation's Board of Trustees before being appointed vice chair, a role he continues to hold. Cashman also served as president of the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club and is a former board chair for Hopelink, a Redmond-based nonprofit assisting underserved communities with food resources, housing and education. "I am looking forward to helping shape EvergreenHealth over the next several years. I was raised in King County, and I've remained deeply connected to our community my whole life," said Jeff Cashman. "I have seen the area around EvergreenHealth grow dramatically and watched as it has become a more critical pillar in the community. As a public hospital district, EvergreenHealth owes an allegiance to the public, and I'll work to ensure we continue to cultivate that relationship—offering even better access to the services families need—while also evolving to provide the specialized, sophisticated care EvergreenHealth is now equally known for."
Cashman received his BA in Political Science from Washington State University. He then went on to earn his law degree from the Seattle University School of Law and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association. Cashman and Judy have lived on English Hill in Redmond since 1988 and their children and grandchildren also live in the area. Both grandchildren were born at Evergreen Hospital.
He joins six other board members—Virgil Snyder, board chair; Tim McLaughlin, secretary; Al DeYoung, Rebecca Hirt, Charles Pilcher, M.D., and David Edwards. The Board of Commissioners governs EvergreenHealth, providing oversight, counsel and accountability to EvergreenHealth's leadership team, ensuring the public hospital district fulfills its mission and values and provides high quality care for everyone in the community.
The appointment of Cashman completes the seven-member Board of Commissioners. Cashman will serve the remainder of the current term through Dec. 31, 2023.
