EvergreenHealth Launches New Community Funded Grant Program

Kirkland, Washington – EvergreenHealth is pleased to announce the launch of a new grant program aimed at improving the health and well-being of the community and invites local nonprofit organizations to apply for the program's $25,000 one-year grant awards.

The new EvergreenHealth Community Funded Grant Program reflects the health system's commitment to partner with individuals and organizations that share EvergreenHealth's mission and values to bring real and lasting improvements to the community. Nonprofit organizations, along with school and government entities located within EvergreenHealth's district service area who meet a range of funding criteria are eligible to apply.

"As a community-owned health system, EvergreenHealth serves a special role, providing all residents and families across our growing region with access to high-quality care and service," said EvergreenHealth CEO Jeff Tomlin, MD. "The new Community Funded Grant Program furthers EvergreenHealth's mission of advancing the health of those we serve, providing valuable assistance to local organizations that address vital needs in our community."

As a public hospital district, each year EvergreenHealth invests millions in levy funds to support a range of programs designed to provide quality health care, services and resources—often at no charge—to meet the community's health needs in 2021. Now for the 2023 calendar year, awards of up $25,000 per applicant will be awarded to approved programs for a 1-year grant period. These awards are intended to serve identified vulnerable or underserved populations or address an important documented need in the community.

To be eligible, applicant organizations must have valid 501(c)(3) non-profit tax status or be a school or government entity. They must also fall within EvergreenHealth's district service area or provide direct services within the service area (cities include Kirkland, Woodinville, Duvall, Sammamish, Redmond, Bothell, or Kenmore). Awards are determined annually, and awardees must re-apply for future funding.

The application period opened on July 1, 2022, with a deadline of August 1, 2022. Programs that are funded will be notified by December 1, 2022, for funding in 2023.
