Your Recovery with EvergreenHealth Monroe

Following your surgery, whether you are staying at the hospital or heading home the same day, the EvergreenHealth Monroe team will ensure that you and your loved ones have all of the important information, are kept up to speed on how the procedure went and will discuss follow-up care and recovery.

After Your Surgery

Your anesthesia will likely take 60-90 minutes to wear off following a procedure depending on the type of anesthetic and some other personal factors.

While you are in the recovery area immediately after your procedure, the surgeon will see you and ensure the outcome of the surgery. They will then update any family or loved ones you've designated with information about the procedure.

Once your vital signs are stable and you are awake and alert enough, your surgical team will seamlessly move you into your room.

During Your Recovery

Following your surgery, you may feel tired and feel some discomfort or pain. Your care team will work with you to ensure pain is at a minimum and you are as comfortable as possible.

Your surgical team will help you schedule follow-up care with your physician so that you can keep track of your recovery. It's also recommended that you drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy diet to help you have a speedy recovery.

Your incision may be swollen or discolored, which is normal. If you see any redness, bleeding or you develop a fever above 100 degrees, tell your doctor right away as this may mean that the incision is infected.

If you require a stay at the hospital, the EvergreenHealth Monroe team will tell you the length of your stay ahead of time.
