Before Your Surgery at EvergreenHealth Monroe
The entire EvergreenHealth Monroe Surgical Department is dedicated to making your experience is safe, worry-free and results in the best possible outcomes.
Scheduling Your Surgery
Your doctor and surgeon will work with you to find a day that suits your lifestyle if your care requires surgery.
Many of the basics about your surgery will be covered by the pre-operative nurse during your pre-op appointment, which will be scheduled within about two weeks of your surgery.
One important thing, especially if you are having an outpatient surgery, is to ensure you have a responsible adult be ready to drive you home following your procedure. You will not be able to drive yourself, take public transportation or walk home.
Preparing for Your Surgery
There are a number of things you'll need to do and not do in preparation for your surgery to ensure the best possible outcome and help you stay comfortable.
Do not eat or drink any fluids after midnight on the day of your surgery. A sip of water is okay if you need it to take any necessary medications. If your surgery is scheduled for the afternoon, ask your pre-procedure coordinator about consuming fluids the day of your surgery.
Do not drink alcoholic beverages or smoke within 24 hours of your surgery.
Be sure to wear and bring comfortable clothes that are easy to put on and take off along with your picture ID.
If you are staying overnight, bring your own toiletries including items like a toothbrush or comb.
Do not bring any valuables or jewelry and be sure to not wear any makeup to your procedure.
When you arrive for your surgery, you will check in at the Admitting Desk near the Main Lobby.
