Mental Health Medications During Treatment

In general, early sobriety is not an appropriate time to start or stop mental health medications. The brain in early sobriety has been shown to exhibit diminished dopamine levels, which will normalize with time. There is no medication that will speed this process. For this reason, our focus is on helping you achieve "time" in sobriety to allow brain recovery.

However, you may have co-occurring mental health conditions. We look at your medications at the time of admission. Addictive medications are stopped (often requiring detox), but most of the time you can remain on your regular medications through treatment.

In cases where a change must be made, our providers can do so, or we can work with your mental health provider to adjust your medication.
