Pregnancy Care

At EvergreenHealth, we consider it a privilege to help your family grow every step of the way. From before you're pregnant through after giving birth, we're here to ensure you are healthy and empowered by giving you all of the necessary information to make the best choice for you.

Your first appointment with a nurse practitioner will typically be around 8-10 weeks after you become pregnant. At this initial appointment, the nurse practitioner will work to confirm your pregnancy via ultrasound.

The nurse practitioner will also take a blood test to check for:

  • Blood type
  • Iron levels
  • Hepatitis B
  • Syphilis
  • Thyroid health
  • Rubella immunity

The nurse will also take a urine test and possibly screen you for HIV and Cystic Fibrosis.

The rest of your pregnancy care will primarily be with your obstetrician and/or midwife, with appointments becoming more frequent as your get closer to the birth date.

During these appointments, your provider will mostly conduct routine checks on your health and the baby's development. They will also provide you with advice on how to control certain symptoms of pregnancy and prepare for giving birth.
