Multiple Pregnancy Care
Are you expecting more than one baby? Congratulations!
Our Multiples Program is here to help, with coaching and frequent monitoring to help you carry your babies longer, which results in higher birth weights and healthier babies.
Together with the advanced care offered by the Fetal Therapy program (such as Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome), the Multiples Program is a top resource in the Pacific Northwest for the care of multiples.
How We Can Help
Our registered nurse will meet with you to discuss:
- Nutrition and activity recommendations
- Weight gain recommendations
- Possible risks and unique concerns for multiples
- A generalized pregnancy plan
- Available resources
Monitoring Your Pregnancy
Your nurse will help you create a plan for your pregnancy, including the frequency of ultrasound evaluations.
When you're carrying more than one baby, you'll typically have an ultrasound every two to four weeks, depending upon the trimester, the type of multiples, and any maternal medical complications.
Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome
Should any of your babies share a placenta, they will be closely monitored for the potential of developing Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. EvergreenHealth is one of the few hospitals in the country that provides in-utero surgical treatment for Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome.
