Outcome studies for early stage breast cancer treatment show that 98% of women who chose a conservative approach (i.e. lumpectomy and radiation therapy) were able to keep their breast.

Since the implementation of intensity-modulated radiation therapy in 2000, 98% of prostate cancer patients who chose this approach show no evidence of disease as evaluated with follow-up prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests.
