Dr. John Dockins is fellowship trained and board-certified in obesity medicine and general surgery, and has clinical experience with morbid obesity, obesity-related diseases, minimally invasive bariatric surgery and esophagogastroduodenoscopy procedures.

My role is to be fully committed to my patients throughout their weight loss journey. I believe that to be a skilled bariatric surgeon, you must be fully invested in all aspects of weight loss and the wellness journey. I want to help my patients lose weight so they can improve their overall health and enjoy a more fulfilling lifestyle.

Provider often speaks fast so it can be difficult to follow what they're saying. Often times they speak like they expect you to know what they're saying, not like they're teaching you or telling you something new. It can be frustrating not being on the same page.

Dr. Dockins strikes me as a great surgeon, not a great weight management partner. His visit is are extremely rushed and I struggle to get my comments in without being cut off or him concluding the visit. As someone who works in healthcare I understand being brisk, however, Dr. Dockins goes beyond being brisk into rushing. He has also been surprisingly dismissive of my desires as a patient which namely include trying all possible avenues for weight-loss before considering surgery since I am young. I understand the evidence that he presents on the efficacy of surgery, but to have it repeated to me every time I ask about moving forward with other options shows me he is not actively trying to be my partner.
