Experience

Dr. Brian Dial is a fellowship trained and well published spine surgeon who specializes in complex spine surgery. He treats all spine-related conditions utilizing the most current and minimally invasive approaches to successfully manage the patient's condition.
Dr. Dial received his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and prior to medical school worked as a research and development engineer. His engineering foundation sharpened his problem-solving skills and prepared him to better understand new spine technology in order to provide the best patient care.
Following his orthopedic surgical training at Duke University, he attended the pediatric and adult spinal deformity fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. This prestigious fellowship provided mentorship from world-renowned spinal deformity surgeons and prepared him to address the most complex spinal pathologies.

Philosophy of Care

My philosophy as a spine surgeon is to provide you with a detailed understanding of both what is causing your neck and/or back symptoms and the different treatment options available to best alleviate your symptoms. Once you have a detailed understanding of your problem, we can decide on the best course of treatment together.  Ideally, the least invasive intervention that will successfully allow you to regain and maintain your desired lifestyle will be selected. Undergoing spine surgery can be a stressful process, but through shared decision making and my patient-centered care I am confident that you will feel comfortable before, during and after surgery.

Dr. Dial is a brilliant surgeon with an amazing bedside manner. He performed a very challenging set of surgeries on my cervical and thoracic spine. These surgeries saved me from paralysis and a shortened life span. At every turn he demonstrated sensitivity, patience and concern. He exudes gravitas despite being quite young. And his upbeat " let's fix this attitude served to calm me and make me feel confident about my prospects.

Dr. Dial was excellent, and I appreciated the time he took to speak with me. I know the time he spent with other patients was the reason he was late to see me. Maybe we need another provider at this office?
