Philosophy of Care
Before medical school, I worked in a restaurant my family owned in Lake City Way, Seattle called Ying's Drive-In. As a part of the interdependence of being a part of a small business and, when my father fell ill, we were faced with worrying for a sick family member while dealing with instability in our livelihood. During that time, I admired his neurologist's ability to guide us through our treatment options and disease course and this ultimately led me to be a physician. Throughout my time caring for persons with MS, I found the experience of giving my patients the information they need to make their own decisions regarding their care to be reminiscent of my own experiences with my father, the very reason I went into medicine and neurology.
The field of neuroimmunology is extremely dynamic, and it is my privilege to be a part of the entire process a patient might face ranging from differentiating between demyelinating disease and their mimics, to management of immunomodulation, and understanding the process of rehabilitation so that patient can regain their quality of life. I am committed to the longitudinal care of my patients.
