Philosophy of Care

I believe that good physicians are educators first and I truly enjoy the teaching part of my practice. It's challenging to break down complicated medical issues and work towards a shared understanding.
I don't think that successfully treating complicated medical conditions (or even simple ones) is possible without a partnership between the patient and the physician, and a successful partnership needs a mutual understanding of the task at hand.

Personal Information

I am a life-long Northwesterner. I was born in Seattle and grew up in Issaquah. My earliest memory is the Starbucks in Pike Place Market (my family is full of coffee snobs).
I am proud to say that the winter rain doesn't bother me...much...and I think the northwest has the best summers in the entire USA. Pro Tip: Here in the Northwest, September weather is almost always better than June and Seattle summers start on the 5th of July.
I am a graduate of The University of Washington Medical School but I'm rarely up to speed on sports so you'll have to tell me what's up with the Huskies. Some people who knew me in college never knew my name. I was always "That guy on the mountain bike". I still ride, but a lot slower.
My family and I are rock climbers and avid snowboarders. I train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu weekly.

Dr Weaver impressed me with his care and concern from my very first visit with him. He is smart, compassionate and thorough. He LISTENS, he wants what is best for me and ALWAYS includes me in the plan for my care. He doesn't push; he guides me to my best choice. Dealing with chronic pain can be challenging and difficult. I know Dr Weaver is available for support and care for me. I have had a role in training and educating resident physicians and I know an excellent physician. I'm very thankful he is my doctor!

Dr. Weaver was very attentive and understanding concerning my back issue. He listened very well and gave me options on how to treat it. He spent lots of time explaining what was going on with my lower back and hamstring and he visually showed me my MRI was totally made sense. He was very personable as well and did not try and rush through my appointment. He made sure that I understood everything and had great bedside manners. Of all the doctors I have ever seen since childhood, he was by far the best doctor I have ever spoken to. On a scale of 1-10 (I would give him an 11 =)

Excellent experience with this physician. He describe what he found in the physical examination which followed what I thought he would find, not much. He described the basic options and left the decision up to me to decide.

We got off to a poor start. I was full of anxiety and pain (having been ignored by my own health care provider for weeks, because they were scheduled so far out.) I gave too much explanation and Information, when asked questions. Dr responded by informing me that too much was going on in my head and that I was overwhelming and "a lot". Fortunately my husband was there and encouraged me to proceed and get through the appointment. I will say that Dr Weaver knows his business and is an excellent physician.

Very impressed with Dr Weaver's quick judgement based on questions and a few simple tests. Helped avoid probably unnecessary further testing with negligible benefit.
