Philosophy of Care

Improving women's emotional, social and physical well-being is the reward of my chosen profession. I love the joy of childbirth; each birth is unique and each family unit is special. I place a strong focus on health screenings such as mammography, immunizations and family planning. I take great joy from helping you manage the challenges of menopause. Together, we will discuss the various treatment options; it is rewarding to see my patients improve the quality of their life as they gain the knowledge and tools to cope with their symptoms. I appreciate the full impact an OB/GYN physician has in the role of improving women's quality of life by emphasizing health maintenance through intervention such as annual preventive GYN visits and health education.

Dr Hyde is nice and answers my questions, but he doesn't always explain what I need to expect from an upcoming appointment or procedure. I never know what's coming next and it's always a surprise what test I'll be getting or what procedure/exam we will do. For example, he did a cervical exam today and during that asked me if I "want" a membrance sweep, I asked what it is and he said it helps with labor and I said if it helps then fine. After the procedure I finally had a chance to ask more questions and found out it speeds up labor! He said it could happen tonight or tomorrow or maybe later.. I would have liked the procedure to have been discussed with me prior to cervical exam and pros and cons and consequences described to me, rather than asking me if I "want" it during the cervical exam when I'm already in a compromised situation. It may have been the right thing to do, but I needed to know more about it ahead of time.
