Volunteering at EvergreenHealth in Kirkland

Why should you volunteer?

Besides making a meaningful contribution to the hospital and the community, volunteering at EvergreenHealth can enrich your life in many ways.

You can help people.

Helping others is the main reason people volunteer. Even if you aren't working directly with patients, your support for our clinical teams helps them focus on providing the best healthcare for our patients. Whether it's helping with office work, walking a guest to their destination or just providing a warm smile and offer to help, volunteers are an integral part of our exceptional service.

You can learn new things.

Volunteering gives you the chance to learn new things and broaden your horizons. You'll work with people who have different backgrounds and levels of knowledge than you. You'll make friends with people you may not otherwise meet. Depending on your volunteer assignment, you can provide behind-the-scenes support for our clinical teams and patient care units, assist with customer service at our information desks and even learn retail skills in our gift shops.

You can explore medical careers.

If you're a teen volunteer, you'll get an insider's look at working in a hospital, which may help you determine if you want to continue your education in healthcare. Having clinical and patient exposure will also help your applications to medical and professional schools.

What Our Volunteers Say...

"Thank you for the opportunity to be a volunteer with EvergreenHealth for the last 6 years. When I started this I have no idea what kind of journey it would take me on. I started at the green information desk as a high school student. Now, I'm finishing college and am amazed at the changes at EvergreenHealth. During this time, I not only learned how to be a volunteer, but I also learned how to be patient, caring, and understanding towards others. I was lucky enough to begin to my ED Liaison volunteering only a short while ago, and I enjoyed the responsibility and challenge of being in a new environment. I hope to take these skills with me as I pursue my career in nursing."

"Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity you have provided me. I have learned so much over this time, and thoroughly enjoyed the experiences shared while serving as a volunteer."

"I can only speak for myself but I feel blessed to volunteer at EvergreenHealth – I have met such wonderful people – staff and volunteers –and I have seen firsthand why EvergreenHealth is a first class hospital. It is a privilege to be part of this organization!"

"It is wonderful to have the time, support and energy to help in ways that can enhance our patient's experience, and support our staff. The nurses have the same commitment and have made all that I do possible."

"It was especially intriguing and exciting to volunteer with other volunteers who had similar passions and interests as mine and to work as a team in order to provide a smooth workflow for hospital staff with self- initiated and assigned duties."

"This opportunity was most definitely a positive experience."
